Rummble featured in June 08’s Ariadne Capital’s journal

Ariadne Capital, the London based Investment and Advisory Firm made up of 46 Entrepreneurs, has featured Rummble as part of their look at WebMission. Ariadne Capital, which was founded in 2000 in their words “to build the market leading companies of the 21st Century”, chose to cover our CEO Andrew Scott, Oli Barret (who along with Jim from Polecatting) founded WebMission and one of the WebMission sponsors, David Rajan from Oracle.
Andrew described the advantages of the West Coast and Silicon Valley as “Three words: Openness, optimism, and funding”. Contentious to some, who perhaps believe startups should be more content to stay in the UK and not run away to the Valley.
In truth, we believe as a team that different companies have different needs. It depends not only on what your personal aspirations are, but the market you are in the potential your company (or product and service) has to grow. Some companies need funding to achieve that; others (with arguably more sensible/mainstream business models) do not. Even companies who shift product and actually CHARGE their users or customers, sometimes needs working capital to expand or to aid cashflow when the business grows rapidly.
We are proud to be a Brit startup and love Europe for its tradition, innovation and variety. Our team is already multi-national; English, Chinese, American and Egyptian. With the addition shortly of some further bodies to the cause, it set to grow even more multi-cultural; and that can only be good for Rummble, our users and our chances of success.
