Rummbling in Berlin
November 3, 2008 – 3:33 pm
The new G1 Android from T- mobile has just been released.
Maps and GPS are playing a big part in many of the Android’s applications and at first look it makes navigation through a city like London a breeze.
Expect the Rummble application for the Android to be out early next year!
Having trusted recommendations, for any city that you are in or that you will be visiting, is set to become easier with such new phones, especially with the Web becoming mobile.
While we were in Berlin recently at the Web 2.0 Expo for the LateCrunch party, we used our iPhone application to Rummble for good restaurants that were nearby. We went to a restaurant close by to where we were staying.
That restaurant was full and was very busy indeed so instead of waiting around, using a guidebook or asking some stranger their opinion, as to where was good to go for food nearby, we simply followed a trusted recommendation from Rummble for a restaurant in the vicinity.
We Rummbled two places nearby. The second place was full too.
However one thing we noticed at the second restaurant was that there was not a tourist in sight, it was full of local Berliners, as it was off the beaten track. However Google maps and Rummble made it very easy for us to find. We simply followed Google maps and went onto the next place that had been Rummbled nearby, a quietly tucked away Pizza restaurant that had been given a high Rummble rating.
The pizza was fantastic.
The beer too.
And I can totally recommend the place for pizza if you are ever in Berlin.
