Belated ‘Hi’ from the new kid at Rummble
December 5, 2008 – 11:41 amHi! My name’s Ben, and I’m the new designer at Rummble.
High in the Bolivian deserts, Ben never saw the desperate addiction to 3G signal that lay in his future.
I really had every intention of writing a ‘Hello, my name is’ post on my very first day at Rummble. I’m not sure what happened to that idea, but it’s coming up to 3 months since I joined the team, and I realised I still haven’t gotten around to it.
Thing is, I’ve (we’ve) been really, really busy! There’s so much cool new stuff in the pipeline I almost don’t know where to begin. Within hours of first sitting down in our office, I was churning out icons for our iPhone app, mockups for nice new emails, layouts for the brand-new Rummble explorer site, not to mention getting my head around the finer points of actually using Rummble.
So, I suppose a bit of self-description is expected in a post like this. Well, I’m fairly newly arrived in the UK, having come the long way ’round from Australia via most of South America. Until I hit Rummble, I had successfully avoided working for almost exactly a year – it’s funny, when you start again after so long, everything magically becomes fun again. I’m still waiting for the novelty to wear off, but 3 months in, and everything’s still looking bright and shiny – fingers crossed!
I’m going to be concentrating pretty heavily on beating the Rummble UI into shape -with a focus on simplicity and speed – everything you want to do in Rummble, faster to get to, and easier to use. If you’re a new user, there’s a good chance you’re thinking ‘ok, now what?’ – don’t worry, we know you’re there, and we really want to help you!
Once the new plans are a little more settled, we’ll post some sneak previews for you to get excited about.
Until then, I think I have about 100 teeny little iPhone icons to draw – wish me luck!
